Applicants for
membership must meet the industry"s most stringent requirements, which are
strictly enforced to ensure that only qualified companies become members of
AABC.
Qualifications for AABC Membership:

Be in business as an independent testing and balancing agency (not as an
individual) for not less than three (3) years. Companies not in business for
three years must demonstrate that they have sufficient expertise and
experience to be considered for membership.
- Have an established place of
business and maintain properly equipped and staffed office facilities capable
of compiling and distributing appropriate reports and data established from
accurate field measurements.
- Carry the required coverage for employees under
State Workers Compensation laws.
- Agree to abide by the Bylaws, Policies and
Procedures, and Code of Ethics of AABC.
- Submit a complete application.
Application Requirements:

Proof of financial responsibility for the payment of wages, benefits, and
contributions to all funds involving both labor and the Council, in the
form of an adequate bank account, financial statement, or surety bond.
- Brief
resumes for each of the company"s technicians, and proof that at least one (1)
qualified test and balance technician who is not an owner, partner, corporate
officer, or shareholder is employed on a full-time basis.
- Proof of sole
ownership and possession of instrumentation per the AABC National Standards.
- 10
letters of recommendation, 5 of which must be from professional engineers.
- Two
(2) preliminary and final test and balance reports, including all technical
correspondence connected with the projects.
- A list of all instrumentation
owned by the company, with calibration dates.
- A notarized statement certfying
that the company is an independent agency having no affiliation with engineers,
architects, installing contractors, or manufacturers. "Affiliation" includes a
financial interest or exchange of personnel.
If the application is accepted, at least one individual from the applying agency
must meet the requirements and pass the
Test and Balance Engineer (TBE) examination, in order to be certified.
