Leakage Testing of HVAC Systems
Mike Kelly, TBE, American Testing Inc.
Leakage testing is a key component of HVAC test and balance. This session will review the energy losses and cost savings relative to sealing systems and leakage testing, evaluate the dominant methodologies and industry standards including discussion of procedures and coordination, and show a case study on successful HVAC leakage testing.
Comparison of Laboratory Control Systems Testing Results
Gaylon Richardson, TBE, CxA, Engineered Air Balance Co., Inc.
This presentation identifies key differences between various laboratory control systems based on twelve dynamic tests conducted to evaluate supply and exhaust tracking capabilities. The tests include: Static Tests, Differential pressure tests at constant volume, and airflow accuracy at different static pressures and volumes.
Neil Redford, TBE, Engineered Air Balance Co., Inc.
This presentation focused on a fan system that did not perform as designed due to equipment and installation deficiencies. The methods of testing and verification of measurements will be discussed as well as system effect on the fans. The equipment issues found stemmed from modifications made to the fan to use 316 Stainless Steel as the required material. The fan issues could not be resolved until an aluminum fan was installed for comparative testing.
Maintaining OSA Airflow From Maximum to Minimum
Daryl Norris, TBE, CxA, Engineered Air Balance Co., Inc.
This discussion centered on maintaining the Design Outside Air Requirements in Variable Airflow Systems, including design review: building airflow offset, outside air introduction and system impact, and types of airflow tracking configurations.
A Pragmatic Approach to getting the Most out of Chilled Water Systems
Mark Gallagher, Armstrong Fluid Technology
This presentation focused on the importance of water pumps in chiller plants, and how they have developed over time.
