Highlights of AABC’s appearance include a presentation led by Gaylon Richardson, TBE, CxA (Engineered Air Balance Co., Inc.) Recommendations for Periodic Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of Existing Buildings. Existing, occupied buildings can benefit greatly from the TAB process. Over time, changes in building occupancy and usage, equipment aging, repairs, and modifications made (or not made) by operations and maintenance personnel can slowly degrade the performance of a building’s systems. Targeted testing and adjustments where necessary can have a significant positive impact on a building’s performance and efficiency, or in some cases highlight when a complete rebalance may be the wisest course of action. (Jan. 31, 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Room N232)
Additionally, Matt Jesson, TBE, CxA (Systems Management & Balancing, Inc.) will present Testing, Tuning, and Tracking for Optimum Building Performance on behalf of ACG and EMA. The professionals who perform TAB, commissioning, monitoring, and measurement all have critical roles to play in achieving building optimization on behalf of the building owner – especially when they work together. Understand the value of a true team approach (engaging ALL teams throughout planning, design, and construction), the synergies between the TAB, Cx, and energy management disciplines, the need for integration between systems and controls, and the often-overlooked need for fine tuning during project closeout. (Feb 1, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Room N241)
ACG will also host a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) workshop on February 1-2 (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Room N218), followed by an administration of the exam for approved candidates. The 2-day 12-hour workshop includes discussion of the commissioning process as described in ACG’s Commissioning Guideline, as well as valuable practical insight on skills, strategies, and communication and documentation protocols essential to applying the process on “real world” projects. This highly interactive training includes many small-group breakout activities, where attendees will use project case studies to develop and discuss samples of key commissioning deliverables. ACG, EMA, and AABC are presenting organizations of CxEnergy 2022, the premier event in commissioning, TAB, and energy management (April 19-22, Orlando, FL). Attendees of the Technical Program earn continuing education credits for presentations covering Case Studies in Cx and Energy Management; Efficiency, Sustainability, Resiliency and Security – Redefining Auditing; Advances in Building Automation and Control Technologies; Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD); Real-time IAQ Data for Managing Key HVAC System Infrastructures; ASHRAE’s Building Readiness and Reopening: Guidance and Case Studies, and more.
