Revised AABC Exam at Local Centers

We are pleased to announce that the revised AABC Certified Technician Exam has been completed and is now available through the same network of testing centers as the TBE exam. (Many thanks to the Board subcommittee who put in hundreds of hours over the past several years to complete this project: BJ Link, Mike Kelly, Gaylon Richardson, and Doug Meacham.)

Here is a brief summary of what you need to know about the test:

Test Duration:
7 hours

# of Questions:
107, multiple choice

Where?:
~120 testing center locations

Who?:
Certified Technician candidates, having 3 or more years of TAB experience including the most recent year at an AABC member firm.

Study/Preparation:
The exam committee structured the exam using the chapters and topics covered in the 3rd edition of the AABC Technician Training Manual (ring-bound with a blue cover).

Suggested Drawing Specification

An independent Testing and Balancing Agency certified by the AABC shall be engaged to Test and Balance the HVAC systems. Systems shall be balanced to plus/minus 10% of design requirements. The contractor shall place all systems and equipment into full operation for Testing and Balancing. One copy of the final Test and Balance report with the AABC National Performance Guaranty shall be sent directly to the engineer of record. Provide five (5) additional copies to the contractor.
